         The L Project

I create works exploring identity, gender, and sexuality. Instead of looking only at how society shapes the individual, I believe it is necessary to explore how personal lifestyles are organized as mechanisms of resistance in a normative capitalist society.

Proposing a vision of free individuals, I encourage people to look at their own value system and find their own identities there.

So it’s my aim to convey the uniqueness of my subjects. Even nowadays it takes a lot of courage to be gay. I did notice, between my female gay friends that even in homosexuality, females are far more discriminated than males.

By portraying communities on the margins and their alternative way of life beyond consumerism they provide us the hope that is possible to find space beyond conventions.

I became friend of all of my subjects portrayed if I wasn’t yet before, and they show me how difficult is being female gay, but how happy they are since they live without hiding their sexual preferences and constructing their own identities.

By making lesbians visible, I hope my images both reveal and construct a lesbian cultural identity.
